About Australian Oil Massage

In Japan, oil massage is generally perceived as a “soft-touch, deeply relaxing experience that often induces drowsiness.” In contrast, in Australia, oil massage is widely recognized not only for relaxation but also as a means to address musculoskeletal issues (such as stiff shoulders and lower back pain), poor circulation, swelling, and other physical discomforts. It is also used as a form of preventive and maintenance care, as well as conditioning before and after sports activities—integrated into people’s daily lives.

Furthermore, Australia has a national qualification system for Massage Therapy (oil massage). Government-accredited educational institutions provide structured programs that meet nationally established standards.

The Massage Therapy National Qualification Course goes beyond relaxation treatments. It is designed to enable therapists to deliver tailored treatments based on each client’s condition. The curriculum combines theory (such as anatomy and postural assessment) with a wide range of techniques, including Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Trigger Point Release, Myofascial Release, and Reflexology.
